Martinez did fairly well but horrible at bats by Carpenter, Grichuk and Piscotty in key moments kept them behind until the bullpens made the difference.
Carlos Martinez did pitch pretty good. Lester just wasn’t throwing much over the plate. (Mostly low & outside balls, often in the dirt.)
That tall kid Jose Martinez didn’t do too bad either. He managed to foul off a couple of Chapman’s 103-104 mph pitches in the 9th….which I found rather impressive.
I think all of our infielders are fairly exhausted. But there’s no time to rest. Gotta’ keep trying to win every single game of the very few that are left.
