Looks like Diaz is the critical part of the team we’ve been missing. Having a good pitcher didn’t hurt either. Boy, Reyes is really effective when he doesn’t constantly throw heaters. MM said he gave Reyes a talk, pre-game…reminding him to amp it down today and trust his secondary pitches.
Pretty evident that Peralta can’t start anymore. Holliday either. They can pinch-hit, I guess.

Colorado up next. They won 3 in a row, but that was against San Diego who’s out shopping for Christmas presents now.
The Cards MUST take 2 of 3 at least………a sweep would be better!!!

Oops, there’s chatter out there that the Giants can’t hold onto leads anymore. Been that way for a while now, actually. One of our local sports guys thinks SF is fading.
Waino needs to bring it tonite. Peralta in and Diaz out of the starting line-up. That’ll probably change if the Birds get in a little trouble.

  4. DAVE M

79-71….150 down 12 to go. 7-5 gets to my magic 86. Must take at least 2 of 3 in all of the remaining series to have a chance.

I saw San Fran’s Cueto shake his head while on the mound last nite, right after the one pitch he made…and then he exited. They’re checking him today to see if the “groin strain” is serious. The Giants dealing with a 2nd injury as well. Brandon Crawford supposedly “dislocated” his right pinky during a 3B slide in last nite’s win over the Dodgers. X-rays showed nothing broken. Reportedly it’s just sore. He bats left but throws right, so the soreness could affect both things for a little while.
Our local FoxSportsMW announcer sounded kinda’ perturbed with Rosenthal in the 9th, after giving up a few hits & a run. He said, “We only need one more out…IF we ever get there.”
If the game would’ve been real close? That one run Rosie gave up could’ve tied or worse, lost the game for the Cards. And AS we know…that happened a few times early in the season. Maybe MM took notice, and for the few games left? Won’t use Rosenthal in any crucial situations, or preferably….not use Trevor at all.

It’s beginning to look like Weaver was misjudged down in the minors. He’s yet to make a decent appearance on the mound for the Birds. Whoever told MM that his stuff was good? Was evidently wrong. That’ll likely put Jaime back in the rotation, don’t cha’ think?

So a good run gets them back in it – then a humiliating loss. Seems to be a pattern. At least Mets lost too. It does look like Weavers is not MLB ready though Reyes looks great. Hope Giants drop another one to preserve the tie and that they play the Cubs tough this weekend.

Yes, I asked one of our local sports reporters, and he agreed with you….saying Weaver’s young & not apparently ready for prime-time yet. He does have the potential, but just needs a little more work.
Nice 9th inning catch by Atlanta to finish off the Mets with a sweep. Surprising sweep, tho’. Who wouldda’ thought….
First 2 Cubs games both in the afternoon. Game 1 on ESPN, game 2 on reg FOX. They don’t wanna’ face us in post-season, so the Baby Bears will probably try their best to sweep the Red Birds.
