Boy, one thing the Cards continue to do? Is take a first pitch, when it’s more often than not….right smack down the middle. I think it’d especially serve Grichuk well if he’d try swinging early.

Haley your correct and if I was a hitter I’d look to mix it up once in a while. However, the team has the best recrd in MLB, so I guess ya don’t mess with success. Yadi, big night and nods to Siegrist and Peralta who both played well. Peralta two hits is nice but he was excellent in the field and we needed that last night. The win gives us the series so the Pirates will leave town at least one game worst than when they came in.A win today could be the game we reflect back on and say this won the division.

A good…and an interesting match-up so far. The Bucco’s made some errors in both games. Not so characteristic of them really…or is it?
Cole wasn’t his sharpest either. Walking Wacha must’ve made Cole wanna’ shoot himself.
It was great to see Wacha pitch himself out of a jam or two.
I enjoyed hearing/seeing Holliday in the FSMW booth. He’s actually a pretty funny goof-ball. At one point, they discussed the possibility of replacing the regular FSMidwest broadcasters with Holliday & Wainwright, during one of the upcoming home games. Hahaha.
And yep, Yadi was terrific! Even HE was excited about his own throw (from the knees) to second base for the tagged out. Fun to see him stand up & wave his arms immediately after the play, encouraging the fans to cheer even louder. Not sure I’ve seen him DO that before, frankly.
As for the first pitch issue? Perhaps swinging at a first pitch would be something Moss, Reynolds & Grichuk in particular, might wanna’ focus on. If ya’ kept count last nite? Several of Cole’s first pitches were well centered & straight across the plate.
Grichuk is capable of some great hits and has had many. But he can be a wiffer, too.
I personally, was glad to see Reynolds have a productive at-bat. I’ve always felt Reynolds is a good ‘nuf player to platoon with Adams at 1B, once he’s back.
But I did hear somebody comment that as soon as Hollday is back (predicted in Sept)….MM would probably put Piscotty at 1B. So that would put both Moss & Reynolds on the bench.

SAN FRANCISCO — At a time in the season when most clubs look forward to increasing their depth with the addition of several Minor League players, the Cardinals eye September as a chance to fortify their roster simply by getting healthy.

Yep, we just need our regular guys healthy & back in the line up.
It’ll be quite interesting to see who plays which positions, once everybody’s back on the active roster.
