Scruggs at 1B tonight.Guess MM is trying to find out if he can stick with the club this time around. Hope he does, it’ll keep us from getting desperate at first base.Mo can then focus on another arm.
Get me Pollock too:)

Ha, you cwazy Pollock-holic! Yep…Skruggs has had a few good hits recently, so MM’s giving him a start tonite. It would be nice to know we have back up if Reynolds gets injured or sumpin’. And of course, as YOU say…would give MO leeway to focus on another arm.
Nice that the game’s on Fox this time, eh? ; )

And that’s a winner! The Cards’ bats were hot! But the game announcers were kinda’ blase. Mostly just off-handed comments about themselves, or the degree of youth on the Cubbie’s team….and a little Maddon stuff, as well.
I suppose it’d be redundant to comment too much on the Cards’ success at this point. Winning so much might be a bit boring to keep hearing about? Lol.
Skruggs performed well too…so that’s that. ; )

Skuggs was outstanding, especially now that I can spell his name correctly.Thought Wacha would go more than 6 though.

Aw, I can’t see any reason to keep Wacha in with the score 8-1. Like a lotta’ other times with a decently good lead? Cruz goes in for Molina, Kozma for either Peralta or Carp, yadda, yadda, yadda. Nothing more than that I’m sure. Gotta’ save every inning possible….considering we’re just coming up on the season’s midway mark.
I’ll bet that just plain ole’ being on the field, even with a killer lead? Is not only stress on the bod, but the mind & emotions as well. Being a spectator on the bench however…lets them relax, but still feel a part of it. Know what I mean, bean? ; )
And as for Skruggs? If he keeps this up? Who knows what’ll happen! Something definitely positive to keep in mind.

I wonder which ESPN broadcaster will fawn over the Cubs and Joe Madden the most tonjght? Sometimes I wonder if John Kruk has some kind of dislike for the Cards from his playing days? Anyway,Martinez at home sounds good to me! As for the rest of tonights lineup we’ll see. It is a national broadcast so the big guns should be playing.

Yeah, it does sorta’ seem like some broadcasters don’t always give the Cards their just due…whether it’s Fox commentators or guys from ESPN. Frankly, I don’t pay much attention to the sportscasters in general, except for our local guys. Half the time I have Mike Shannon on the radio but the sound off on the TV. With a 30-sec delay…it’s actually fun that way.
One article I found, said Kruk resembles Chris Farley a bit. Hahaha. I Googled him, and he holds a life-time BA of around .300. Not too shabby. No mention tho’, of any suspected personal issues with the Cards….perceived or otherwise.
Martinez may possibly feel he has something to prove tonite. The Cubbies roughed him up pretty good back in early May. (7 runs, 4 walks in only 3 2/3 innings.) Hard to say if Martinez’ emotions will have any affect on his pitching tonite. Besides, sometimes it can take an inning or two, for Martinez to settle in & find the zone. Guess we’ll see, eh?
Difficult to anticipate the starting line-up too, considering MM’s ways of thinking. But sure, most likely it’ll be the “big guns”.
Oh, and remember some time ago, when I mentioned MM telling that one reporter he’d possibly consider Martinez as a DH in an emergency? Well perhaps, if Martinez is out for some pay-back…..he’ll not only try to throw his very best stuff this evening, but maybe he’ll try like heck to hit it outta’ the park, too? That’d surely be sumpin’ to see…now wouldn’t it! Lol!!!
‘Course RHP Jason Hammel is no slouch. He was tough on the Dodgers his last outing. So who knows how things will go. Let’s play ball! ; )

Going to a party tonight for friends of ours moving to London so I’ll probably miss the game tonight. They’re not baseball fans so I’m relyig on you,Haley to fill me in.Sorry about the pressure, but I’m stuck with no way out of this one. Go Cards and Get Me Pollock Mo:)

London…wowee! Quite the trip “across the pond” that should be.
If you’re “game”? You might try texting “SPORTS” to 881120…which should give you regular text updates during tonite’s matchup. I haven’t tried it personally yet, but it’s provided by KMOX radio, the CBS affiliate who regularly airs the Cards games. (It’s “NO SPORTS” to unsubscribe, btw.)
Have a good time, and remember….moderation when partaking of adult-beverages. ; )

You can also follow the game on a smartphone with the play by play format on MLB.com. I do that sometimes on night when the family wants to see something together. The MLB at bat app on ios or Android might also let you watch or listen discreetly to key moments (doesn’t work on my blackberry though).

True. But I think I’d rather get texts than use an app. Less data usage, if/when I’m not near a wifi spot.
Hmmm…old school Blackberry user? Did you know Obama’s required to use a Blackberry for security reasons? But at least that’s better than Warren Buffett, who still uses his old flip-phone. Hahaha.

Living in Canada I do feel some loyalty and my nephew works for the firm. But their devices and OS remain very strong and great for my work, though less so for entertainment uses; MLB supported them until this year so not being able to access broadcasts that way is disappointing.

Yep, I have friends that also still use a Blackberry. Probably for the reasons you mentioned. ; )

Just got home………..rain delay.Pitts lost so we’ve picked a half game without even playing.

Short party, no?

Yeah, buddy. The storm hit haaaaard! Lotsa’ hail, too. Geez, Louise….I’m afraid to go out & look at my windshied. Hahaha.
As bad as the storm was? It’s settled down some in the last 20 minutes. And the doppler-radar doesn’t show anything behind the storm-front that just passed thru.
So, I’m guessing the game will start back up in maybe 15 minutes?
