Prior to taking the field at Dodger Stadium for an afternoon workout on Thursday, the Cardinals released their 25-man roster for the National League Division Series against the Dodgers. The roster features 12 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and five outfielders.

Notable omissions from the roster include veterans Jason Motte, Mark Ellis and A.J. Pierzynski. Here is how the rest of the roster shakes out:

Relievers: Randy Choate, Sam Freeman, Marco Gonzales, Seth Maness, Carlos Martinez, Pat Neshek, Trevor Rosenthal, Michael Wacha

Catchers: Tony Cruz, Yadier Molina

Infielders: Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, Daniel Descalso, Pete Kozma, Jhonny Peralta, Kolten Wong

Outfielders: Peter Bourjos, Randal Grichuk, Matt Holliday, Jon Jay and Oscar Taveras

Remove Oscar and replace with A.J. Oscar Ks too often.

I have to agree with you on that. Oscar hasn’t earned this in ’14. AJP and Cruz gives more options than just the PH of OT. And OT will NOT ever be playing Defense. Send Oscar home please, Moz, even though we know he’s your boy. You, the team, and the fans don’t owe him anything.
