April 17: Cardinals (8-5) @ Pirates (6-7)

The local folks at Slippery Rock University will get the opportunity to watch one of their own start tonight with Matt Adams back in the lineup. Though Adams grew up in central Pennsylvania, he spent his college days just north of Pittsburgh at Slippery Rock. He is the first player to make the Majors out of that Division II baseball program.

It’s become quite obvious — though the team hasn’t made any sort of declaration — that Matt Carpenter is the club’s everyday second baseman for the time being. But Daniel Descalso is getting the start at short tonight.
