Day 37: Marlins @ Cardinals

Jenifer Langosch/

Tuesday’s game marks the end of the Cardinals’ string of six straight games at Roger Dean Stadium. That stretch has off days as bookends to it, too, and the last one of the spring comes tomorrow for St. Louis. Then it’s on the road for six of the team’s final nine Grapefruit League games, though only five of those require a bus ride.

The competition for the fifth starter spot is again front and center today, as both Shelby Miller and Joe Kelly will get an opportunity to strengthen their respective case with another appearance. This time, Miller will start and Kelly will follow second.

The Cardinals not only have a familiar opponent (Miami) today, but they’re facing a familiar starter (Jacob Turner), too. Turner, a St. Louis-area native who was coached by Cardinals manager Mike Matheny in high school, will be making his third start against St. Louis this spring.
