Day 29: Cardinals @ Yankees

Jenifer Langosch/

The Cardinals traveled to Florida’s other coast last night in advance of today’s game against the Yankees in Tampa. I did not make the trip, however, and am back at the Cardinals’ complex today. I will bring you news from here, and my colleague Adam Berry (@adamdberry) will bring you the news from Tampa.

Fernando Salas has returned from his short stint pitching for Team Mexico. He spoke glowingly of the experience and also talked about the ugly brawl that broke out Saturday between Mexico-Canada. Salas said he knew better than to risk injury by getting in the center of the fracas. You can read more about Salas’ experience on later today.

There has been no Marc Rzepczynski sighting yet. He is scheduled to visit a local eye doctor today to get a prognosis on his injured left eye.

Those players who are not in Tampa are here at the complex this morning and will go through a light workout. The same thing will happen tomorrow for those who don’t travel to Orlando.

Remember that today’s 12:05 p.m. CT game against the Yankees will be televised on ESPN. It’s the first of two ESPN appearances the Cardinals will make this spring. For those who haven’t yet seen images of the slimmed-down Lance Lynn, this will give you an opportunity to watch him pitch.
