A bit of blog housekeeping
With Thanksgiving now just days away, let me first express my gratitude for those who have made this blog (and the coverage at cardinals.com) part of your daily reading. The dialogue I’ve had with many of you has been engaging and interesting and (mostly) civil; I have certainly valued the interaction. It’s crazy to think back to where I was at this time last year, preparing to make the transition to St. Louis….
Anyways, I’ll quit with the mushy stuff.
My primary point for this update is to let you all know that the blog will be going dark for Thanksgiving week. I’m taking some personal vacation time for the first time in, well, who knows how long, so I’ll be stepping away for a few days. There will still be daily content on cardinals.com, and MLB.com will have you covered if there is additional news. Just no blog.
A few things to look out for next week:
- Tuesday is the deadline for teams to finalize 40-man rosters in advance of the Rule 5 Draft. The Cardinals currently have four openings on their roster and you can anticipate at least one more subtraction from that roster before the end of the day on Tuesday. That will give the club plenty of flexibility to protect Minor League players eligible for the Rule 5 Draft.
- On the light side, you will also be able to read more about the Cardinals’ charity initiatives from the past year as part of next week’s content. I realize this is not hard-hitting news, but it’s an aspect of the organization’s activity that often goes unfairly unnoticed and underappreciated. What better time to recognize the work in the community than around the Thanksgiving holiday.
I am going to hold off on putting out another Inbox until the week after Thanksgiving, but that shouldn’t preclude you from submitting questions. If you want to email questions for possible inclusion, send them to Jenifer.Langosch@MLB.com. You must include your name, last initial and hometown in order for the question to be considered. You wouldn’t believe how many people leave that information off! Also, proposed trades don’t count as questions, nor do rants about particular players. Consider yourself fairly warned.
I wish you all a Thanksgiving full of family, football and food. Because I have an inability to entirely unplug from sports, you can keep an eye out for me wearing my Falcons jersey at Sunday’s Atlanta Falcons game and my Mizzou colors at the Georgia-Georgia Tech game the following weekend. Now, I guess, I’ve removed all suspense as to where I’ll be for the holiday…
