September 25: Cardinals (83-71) @ Astros (50-104)

Jenifer Langosch/

David Freese described his sprained right ankle as “more sore” today than it was last night. That’s to be expected. Freese is doing very little today and avoiding all baseball activities. He’s obviously not in the lineup, and Freese said he anticipates needing to sit on Wednesday as well.

After that, the timetable is still somewhat unknown for the third baseman.

And here is something new I discovered today — lists postseason probabilities for each club. on this page. The Cardinals, who own a 3.5-game lead over the Brewers and Dodgers now have a 91.1 percent chance of winning a Wild Card spot.
