September 19: Astros (48-100) @ Cardinals (78-70)

Jenifer Langosch/

The Cardinals increased their lead for the second Wild Card to 1.5 games with last night’s win. Updated Wild Card standings can be found through the link at the end of this entry. Keep in mind that the Dodgers play twice today in Washington, so there could be a pretty substantial swing in the standings depending on how things go there and here.

Lance Lynn’s recent outing in LA earned him the chance to start this one. In his only previous start against the Astros in 2012, Lynn allowed two earned runs on six hits in six innings. He also struck out a career-high 11 in that June 7 outing.

Head over to tonight for updates on Jake Westbrook (who reported no issues after throwing his bullpen session today), Lance Berkman, Mitchell Boggs and Rafael Furcal.
