Correia activated off 60-day disabled list

The Pirates have taken Kevin Correia off the 60-day disabled list, a transaction that is necessary this month. By doing this, Correia reclaims a spot on the club’s 40-man roster.
With all the transactions of the past week, the Pirates’ 40-man roster currently has 34 players on it. That roster can be found here. Those openings will be filled by players the Pirates sign this offseason and by prospects the Pirates want to protect from the Rule 5 Draft.

Do you think the Pirates are going to try to add a quality veteran arm (read not someone of the trash heap) to the rotation or give one of the young arms from the minors a shot to win a spot in spring training?
Hope they clear another spot and let Olendorf go. Don’t think he will ever make it unfortunely.
Correia is terrible. I hope they actually add a good SP this offseason
The Pirates are definitely looking to add pitching this winter and would, ideally, like to add another proven, veteran arm. In this free agent market, though, that is going to be easier said than done. It is a weak market, which means clubs are going to overpay for the pitchers who are available.
The Pirates ultimately have to decide whether they are willing to allocate significant dollars to a back-end-of-the-rotation veteran pitcher or give a shot to one of the young arms. At this point, it is hard to gauge which direction is more likely.
If nothing else, this is only more of a reminder why it is so imperative that the Pirates develop their top starters within their own system.
