The Pirates have reached an agreement with second-round Draft pick Stetson Allie before Monday’s midnight signing deadline, a baseball source confirmed with MLB.com.
The deal is not 100 percent done — some details must still be nailed down — but the parameters are in place to add the right-handed pitcher to the organization by the end of the night.
Financial details are not known at this point, though Allie was expected to command an above-slot bonus despite falling to the second round in the June First-Year Player Draft.
Allie had previously committed to attend the University of North Carolina after graduation.
The Pirates continue negotiations with first-rounder Jameson Taillon, a right-handed pitcher out of the Houston area.
