It has been 50 years since Bill Mazeroski lifted a ball over Forbes Field wall to give the Pirates a World Series Championship over the Yankees. During the Pirates’ upcoming series against the Indians (Friday-Sunday), the Pirates are going to celebrate that victory.
Here are some of the notable festivities planned and guests expected to be in attendance:
- Special Ticket Package: Left, right and outfield box seat tickets are discounted to $19.60 for all three games. Fans purchasing these tickets will also receive a 1960 commemorative t-shirt.
- Fans attending Friday’s game will receive a Bill Mazeroski photo canvas wrap.
- On Saturday, there will be a pregame ceremony honoring that 1960 team. Players and staff expected to be in attendance include: Joe Christopher, ElRoy Face, Bob Friend, Joe Gibbon, Dick Groat, Vernon Law, Bill Mazeroski, Bob Oldis, Dick Schofield, Bob Skinner, Bill Virdon, George Witt, and Joe Brown (former GM).
- Law will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before Saturday’s game.
- Fans attending Saturday’s game will receive a stein featuring a photo of the 1960 team.
